Silverstone GP : the grid

the minimum weight of 642 pounds was not respected by Force India and the car, emptied of its essence, has been weighing 2 kilos under the regulatory burden. A new weighed after recalibration, gives 1.5 kilos under the minimum weight. in this case there no other alternative than the exclusion of the qualification and the start in back of the grid, which was confirmed by the Fia.

So all the drivers , from the 5th position , gain one position on the grid .

*Fernando Alonso: "this morning we lost an hour thirty due to the rain and it has reduced our margin of time to make the programme planned in the afternoon which was an usual program with the harvests of important data on tires that will be key here. 

In Silverstone, we should have an aerodynamic package suitable for the combination of fast corners, which is a main feature of this circuit knowing that we have a perfect strategy to see the good choices on what is necessary to take into account for Sunday knowing that the track conditions will be very different with higher temperatures."

*Felipe Massa: "I am very disappointed with what happened with my accident which cost me time to understand the behaviour of the tyres. Turn out I found on a section of damp track and I lost control of the car and we drove with the hard prototype tyres from Pirelli but I didn't have sufficient temperature and I could not avoid the accident.

Fortunately, the car had only slight damage and tomorrow we will be able to return to work at a good stage with long relay. If you look at Alonso session , that went well even if temperatures have not helped us but the weather expected tomorrow is much better so we have good reasons to be optimistic.
I am sure that we will do our best to improve and return to the head cars."

*Pirelli renounces to introduce new tyres at the Silverstone GP because they did not receive unanimous vote of the teams . The Italian manufacturer will only change the glue that binds tread to steel housing in order to avoid any effect of delamination in the future.

- Silverstone GP : hard and medium tyres

*Fernando Alonso: "this second place has the taste of a victory at the end of a very difficult weekend because we were competitive and we managed to battle with the front drivers.

However, due to a problem of graining, I lost valuable time behind Sutil and this is why I thought that a strategy based on the use of two sets of medium tyres would make me win one or two positions. Even if I can't be satisfied with this result, it is still positive , we showed a good pace and we were able to battle . Now, I turned to the next race, I am confident for Silverstone which is very similar to Shanghai and Barcelona, where our car was very powerful."
