Valencia GP : Alonso & Massa Friday quotes

Fernando Alonso :
"Overall, it was the beginning of a positive weekend in Valencia, my second home race of the year. We completed our entire program, working primarily on the tires, including the key element this Grand Prix is the introduction of the tire medium for the first time this season. It was important to go through so many turns, as on a circuit like this, do a lot of miles to help you gain confidence behind the wheel of the car , pushing to the limit, which actually improves your performance. The characteristics of the circuit well suited to our car, but it is too early to say where we are compared to the other. In the past, we have been fit the first day before you see us being relegated to a second in qualifying. Therefore, I do not even want to consider the time today. In the first two free practice sessions, so you try things and the track changes so rapidly, even more on a street circuit like this, it is really impossible to make a prognosis. The car seems to behave well, so we can address the skills with confidence, while remaining aware that we will be fighting with very strong opponents. It is not by chance that Red Bull has won every pole positions during the first seven races of the season and they are clearly the favorites. It will be easier to overtake here in Monaco, but the grid position will be no less important."
Felipe Massa :
"I would say it was a good day, much better than the other Friday of the season after three hours of testing. The car seems competitive and I do not expect a very different situation from that in Canada two weeks ago. It is true that we are only on Friday, but it starts well, the tires worked well, with both options and bonuses, even if the options have offered more grip. There is a big difference between the two types of gums and the temperatures are well above those found in Canada. The balance of the car is not perfect yet, because too often we block our wheels with brakes ."
