the In&Out of the Malaysia Gp !

* The top in:

-Fernando Alonso:
Superb race for the Spanish driver who, at the wheel of a car that still missing competitiveness, successfully managed his race with one hand of master both at the level of the strategy and the quality of the drive ! Fernando also made the performance to capture the head of the drivers Championship !

-Sergio Pérez:
Congratulations to the young Mexican driver who proved he is a great drive by finishing on the second step of the podium after harassing Fernando Alonso for the gain of the first place ! a beautiful contrast to Sergio after one 2011 season a half tint due to a crash at the 2011 Monaco Gp . A star is born !

-Mark Webber:
 Red Bull lost a bit of performance but Mark nevertheless managed to achieve a solid Gp in closing, as in Australia, to the 4th place. Double satisfaction for Mark as he finished far before his crew and that he was the only one to bring points for his team at this Gp.

-Williams:
Williams amazes with the bright sixth-place of Bruno Senna ! He has given beautiful overtakings and was well able to manage this mad race! Meanwhile, teammate Pastor Maldonado had again  bad luck coz he scored no points however he showed that he was able to score big points. Williams must improve the reliability !

-Kimi raïkkonen:
despite a penalty which forced him to start from the 10th place on the grid, kimi has done a good race and continues to show us that he did well to come back! dare to imagine what would pass if he had no penalty ! maybe a podium ?

* The top out:

-Felipe Massa:
all the races look the same for Felipe as he continues to navigate the depths of the classification while his teammate won the race ! What is going on? Massa must improve very quickly if he does not want to be displace at Ferrari!

-Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel: both had a similar fate during this race! all two possible winners, both defeated by a HRT! for Button it was his fault, for Vettel not , although we his attitude after the race when he was talking about Karthikeyan ! was it necessary to add ?

 -Lewis Hamilton:
even if the British driver managed to finish on the podium, we can however deplore a lack of fighting spirit at this Gp. but he marks large points while his teammate won none and this surely is the essence!

* the strategy of the Gp goes to Sergio Pérez who managed to save his gums after the restart of the race to ensure that second step on the podium.

* of the side of the Frenchies:

-jean éric Vergne:
once again Jean Éric is the French of the time in F1 ! He gave us a beautiful race while scoring his first points in the discipline ! congrats to him !

-Romain Grosjean:
the weeks are the same for Romain as the Lotus drive did only a few laps before going to the gravel ! the pressure will be very large for Romain in China if he fails to do better !

-Charles Pic:
It's better for the young Frenchman since he managed  to rally the arrival without finishing last and continues to get experience.

Malaysia Gp : Alonso & Massa Saturday quotes

* Fernando Alonso:
"I think that we can say that it was a good qualifying because we have the best possible result, especially since I had a KERS concerns on the car in Q3." I can't say how long it took me, nor in place but it would have given a more realistic gap with the pole. If it rains tomorrow, then well will manage the strategy and wear good tires, just ten seconds to win or lose big, so we have to be fully concentrated and ready for all contingencies. If the race goes on dry need to maximize the performance of the car and tires degrade much. We must try to make points that might be important for the Championship. The first curve is going to be difficult because it is tight. We know that we have a lot of work to do especially on the aerodynamics of the car.
Performance here is significantly better than Australia, which proves that we are working in the right direction, but it is clear that we still have to move forward to step forward if we want to win the title.
A new car in Barcelona? No, this is not true because it is certain that we are pushing on the development of the car, but there was no revolutionary change. For the moment this car has a lot of problems, but there is also a large margin of improvement. "

* Felipe Massa:
"it is clear that I can't be in this twelfth place, but we know that for the moment we do not have a car fairly competitive." Access in Q3 today was very difficult and I was not satisfied with the balance of the car, but we have managed to improve in qualifying, which leaves me confident for the race and the future. I think, that we have begun to understand a little better the car, that the F2012 will be a little faster tomorrow, but it will be a difficult race in which the degradation of the tires will be important as there is a high risk of rain.
I hope that I can make a better result than the twelfth position, I have pressure but she comes from my desire always to the maximum and when I am not first I am not pleased."

Malaysia Gp : Alonso & Massa Friday quotes

* Fernando Alonso:
 "as usual in Malaysia is one of the main tasks of Friday to get used to the extreme conditions as quickly as possible especially in the garage because the heat makes suffer when you are in place in the cockpit.
 On the runway is different because there is air even if it is not luxury. This morning we have much worked on the comparison of the different aerodynamic solution which was a bit like assembling a jigsaw puzzle to find the best combination. In the afternoon we have the usual programme namely the comparison of tires with different fuel loads. I must say that the two types of tires behave well, both in terms of performance on the first round on degradation the long relay.
We have collected much useful information which we allow to be ready for the rest of the weekend even if it is not today, but we know that a storm may arrive without warning from time to another and therefore we must there be ready."

* Felipe Massa:
"Alonso and I were on different programs and this is what explains the difference on the map of the time especially in the afternoon.
We particularly looked different directions which in my case did not work, but at least this allowed us to understand important small things on the handling of the car. Now my engineers know in which direction to work makes me optimistic for the qualifications. Last week in Melbourne it was catastrophic, the car is not transformed but it is better, I have no particular pressure, at least not more than usual.
we are always under pressure, it is important to understand, more little by little we understand what happened in Melbourne and we have the capacity to correct this."

Malaysia Gp : Fernando's blog : "a hot weekend in prospect"

"I've been in Kuala Lumpur since Monday already. As my trainer Edoardo Bendinelli has previously explained to youit's important to acclimatise quickly to the extreme conditions, especially for us Europeans when we're in this corner of the globe. Yesterday, for example, I played Golf with Edoardo and my manager Luis: we were the only ones on the course as no one was prepared to venture out in the heat! This is the longest race in terms of distance, but above all, it's the most tiring from the physical point of view: it is vital to be as well prepared as possible and, towards the end, that can also make a difference out on track. I'm doing all I can to be ready for this weekend, just as is the team; all the guys here in the garage in Sepang, for whom it is also very draining to work in these conditions and all the people back home in Maranello. In Malaysia, we will once again be racing on the defensive. There's no other way we can go about it, given that the F2012 is practically identical to what we ran in Australia. We will have to try and adapt it as well as possible, knowing it won't be easy. There are two points we will have to work on with great attention: finding the right compromise in terms of the aerodynamic balance and the tyre degradation. Sepang has two real straights where, because they are very long, a lack of top speed carries a higher price than in Melbourne, where the two straights on which you could use DRS were reasonably short. We will have to see how the Pirelli tyres behave in the high temperatures here in Malaysia. Last year, we ended up doing four stops so we will see if the situation is the same this time. We will have the Medium and Hard compounds while last year we ran Soft-Hard. Given that this year, the four types of Pirelli tyre are much more similar to one another in terms of performance over a lap, maybe it will be a different picture. By the second free practice session on Friday, we should already start to get a more accurate impression. The word "should" applies because every session here, especially the one in the mid- afternoon, can be affected by rain. There is no other place in the world, the Formula 1 world that is, where it can go from sunshine to torrential rain in the space of a few minutes. Not even at Spa is the variability so acute. Those on the pit wall will have to keep their eyes peeled and look at the radar carefully to be ready for any possible change in the weather. At the moment, the forecast is for a high chance of rain, both for qualifying and the race, but honestly, I don't have much faith in the forecast. The important thing is to react promptly and grab every opportunity. The only thing you can be absolutely certain of is that it will be hot, very hot..."

the in&out of the Australia Gp

* the top in:

-the Mclaren boys:
it was expected that the Mclaren drivers start the season in marching band and we have not been disappointed! Jenson took not less than a turn to grab the head of the Gp and no longer leave it ! then Jenson had a brilliant strategy and managed well the security car at the end of race .
Lewis Hamilton can feed a few regrets including at the start and in his judgment at his early pitstop , which cost him the second place and thus the doubled for his team. Nevertheless he finished on the podium and starts well the season thus forget 2011.

-Sebastian Vettel:
after qualifications in a half tint, Sebastian was able to reverse the trend by finishing 2nd on the podium with a good strategy and the misfortune of the Mercedes. a good result for a good start the season!

-Mark Webber:
in  front of his audience , the Australian driver has made a solid race despite the problems of Kers suffered throughout the weekend. But Mark can feed regret especially when we see that his teammate has finished on the podium.

-Pastor Maldonado:
even if the Venezuelan driver didn't join the arrival due to a crash at the end of the race, he demonstrated a very large potential including in putting pressure on the Ferrari of Alonso! even if he did not mark any point , Pastor showed that Williams had made big developments  this season.

* the top out:

-Mercedes:
Mercedes had everything to make a good Gp : a fast car capable of well in qualifications! but in the Gp, despite a very good start of their both drivers , the team was betrayed by his mechanics as their two pilots retired due to a gearbox problem.
reliability is therefore to review at Mercedes!

-Felipe Massa:
even if Ferrari has problems with its F2012, Felipe Massa would have better figuratively in this Gp, especially when we see that his teammate has finished in the 5th position! Felipe complained of a lack of traction on his car and had to retire after a crash with Bruno Senna but the general impression is that Felipe didn't give the impression to invest fully!
one good point: his start of the race .

-HRT:
it appears that the small Spanish team continues to drag behind her financial and technical problems! asked how the team could finish the 2012 season !

* the climbs of the race :

-2 drivers had rather poorly qualified from their rank of world champion but are rather well caught in the race. I speak of course of Fernando Alonso who won 7 seats by finishing 5th and Kimi Raïkonnen who earned 12 by ending 7th! they did the show by performing both a beautiful start and overtakings .
let's hope these two drivers will fight at the front post!

the strategy of the day is on behalf of Sergio Pérez who realized only one pitstop !

* of the side of the Frenchies:

-Romain Grosjean:
despite a great performance in qualifications, Romain could not achieve it because of a collision early in the race with Pastor Maldonado.

-Jean-Eric Vergne:
even if he finished only 11th, Jean-éric showed a large potential and a strong pace in the race. maybe he could have put soft tires initially?

-Charles Pic:
at the wheel of his modest Marussia, Charles has certainly not seen the chequered flag but has still won even a little more experience.

Australia Gp : Alonso & Massa Sunday quotes

Fernando Alonso:
"we knew that would a very complicated race and I am happy to have managed to bring a number of important points to the team." I had a great start and I managed to make a few exceedances and then after the safety car, I had a struggle complicated with Maldonado. When I saw that he had to give up I pushed one ouf of relief because it was really close to me since several towers, I was slower than him and I could defend my position using the KERS at specific times. I am sorry for him because it is a shame to finish a race in this way. On the positive points today, there is the departure, both booths and the strategy adopted. The car was better that yesterday and we were closer to the leaders. However, we have much work to do to return to those who are lead in terms of performance. Step only McLaren and Red Bull, but also Mercedes and Lotus. We are certainly in a second of the pole and there are seven or eight teams very close to each other. In a sense, this is good news because if we improve a few tenths, we gain several places. Next week in Malaysia will be a test of fire, Sepang is a very demanding for the cars and tires."

Felipe Massa:
"this really was a bad weekend for me.
Already yesterday, I have suffered because the car had a bad balance and today, it was probably worse, after a few rounds I had debating me with my tires while I had a good start and I hope to finish in the points. We have tried to anticipate the first case but with the second train of soft tires, we had the same problem. The car slid and degradation was far larger than the other. I did have an aggressive steering to just save my tires, but I nothing could do, even with the hard the situation has not changed. We must work to understand why we have not succeeded in finding the right balance with the car as we have had in Barcelona for example. On my contact with Senna, I think that can be considered a race incident. A Toro Rosso has tried to put me outside the turn 3 and Bruno (Senna) had better traction indoors, we then were side by side in the turn 4 and we touched."

Australia Gp : the race result

Australia Gp : Alonso & Massa Saturday quotes

Fernando Alonso:
"It went like this: I have slowed a bit in the grass, the car went to head to tail, and I found myself in the gravel. I managed to not sink in the hope that the Commissioners leads me to return to the runway. I have done my time with proven soft tires. Perhaps with a nine train I could arrange to spend in Q3, but fight to the first places would have been impossible. Today we lack of performance. We do not have enough support and we still lack of top speed. Tomorrow we are going to run a defensive race and make the maximum with 4 new tires trains. I hope a good start to catch up with a few lines before us and then fight with them until the end. here at the end of the qualification last year we 1.4 seconds slower than others. While today ' today was a second, so hypothetically, it could be said that we are more competitive with the time. Of course, there are other teams who have made progress, but I think that we have plenty of points for improvement. In Malaysia, we will have the same car, so the situation will not change. We will simply have to adapt to the characteristics of the route. It is true that our objective from the beginning of the year was to fight for the victory, that we have not succeeded, but it will be a long season and what we can do, it is working to improve... It is no point in getting angry because this would serve no purpose. "

Felipe Massa:
"I am very disappointed: it is not the beginning of the season that I expected or hoped." This is difficult since the third session of free trials. The balance of the car was never as I wanted to and I never managed to make a clean lap . I always had a lack of grip with mediums and the tender. I have also suffered from oversteer in entry and exit of understeer. I don't know why, but the car seems to be worse than in the winter trials, perhaps it is due to the characteristics of the circuit. Now, we will try to do what we can tomorrow in the race. This won't be easy because I will go very far but I will develop the work of the heart. I do not think that we will be able to do that only one decision, but we must make up lost ground today in qualifying. It is clear that we are behind, perhaps more than we expected and there are other teams who have much improved from last year. We work to find the right path to develop the car."

Australia Gp : Alonso and Massa Saturday quotes

* Fernando Alonso:
"it is always a pleasure to return here after the winter truce, all the cars are on track together and the public is present, it is always a good feeling. It was a bit complex to try to work on the program scheduled for Friday because of the weather. Therefore there is still some work to request prior qualifications but I think that others are in a similar position. I am rather satisfied with the car, the sensation is rather positive. However, we did not do the usual comparison between the two types of tires, because we ran primarily with tires intermediate and mediums. Well, they seem to behave on the degradation. It was important to have a reliable car, the KERS, the engine management, transmission and all the rest because it is not always the case at the opening of the season. I have no mark with the timesheet, and it is impossible to make predictions for the qualifications. Tomorrow I expect to see a very mixed grid because there are a lot of teams that appear to be quick since this winter. We will try to do our best, with all the best features that we have tried in recent weeks, including a few made here details. However, my opinion has not changed, we have to wait for tomorrow to see where we are the competitors, but if I were to give a sort of notice on the day, then it is positive. We have important things today, the balance of the car is good and she responds well to changes."

*Felipe Massa:
"after more than three months we are finally back to what is best, namely the weekend of races. However, today was a difficult return because we couldn't make as many towers was planned. The rain came disturbed the first and the second session of free trials and free test 1 I lost time because I missed because of the left rear wheel braking in the grass I went into the gravel and I couldn't go back on track. In the second session, rain is invited more and only the end of session could roll in dry tires. As a result of all these elements, is not really possible to know where we stand vis à vis of rivals. For my part, I do that too few tower to tell if the car to change since the last days of Barcelona but tomorrow afternoon, when the qualifications we will be all under the same conditions and the we will finally understand something."

Fernando and Felipe in a coffee shop !

Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa were invited on Thursday to an event organized by Shell, partner of Ferrari, in an Italian coffee "Brunetti's cafe" , in Melbourne , to serve some coffee to the Ferrari team members as well as a few journalists present for the occasion.

Australia Gp : Felipe Massa quotes

"It's good that the season begins, because time is of blah blah blah over .
Finally, we will have a clearer picture of our level after qualifying because it was impossible to know during the winter testing. We seen that many teams seem fast, not just one round, especially on race distances indicating that everyone will be very proche. to be honest, if we were not happy with the progress of our private testing but it is also true that in 2011 we were very happy and then we came here and everything was bad, as indeed the rest of the year. Winter testing gave only very rarely a clear situation. I hope that we will have a car capable of competing in the early races. race tests will not say anything, you may be surprised. We do not know the fuel loads in teams. Following these tests, we have worked very hard on the simulator, try new things we have seen in testing and this required a lot of work between Barcelona and here in Australia. I think we learned a lot more with our data and I think this helped to improve the car. Then about the Gp in itself:
" Melbourne is not a lucky track for me, even if I got a podium here in 2010 . In other races, I headed to a good result for the win or podium but I was always a concern. Sunday we will see, it is important to find the right direction to quickly develop the car every week. It's our job now to all the team here and at the factory. "

(source : http://www.ferrari.com )

Australia Gp : Fernando Alonso quotes

"We must continue to work and develop the car. Our progress is innovative compared to the past at Ferrari, then six days of testing is not sufficient to change from black to white. This is not a continuation of the car last year, so we need more time, more than other teams to be competitive. I think we made good progress, we will see our competitiveness in the qualifications, not only here but also in Malaysia and China because this circuit is particularly, we are practically at a standstill in some areas. It will be good to put all the best elements of the car together, because we have never done this during testing . This is what we will do for tomorrow's free practice for the first time. "About the recent statements of Pat Fry:
" Engineers are always looking data and figures. Maybe we have not reached goals or outcomes we expected, but that does not mean that the actual numbers that we wanted is not enough to go on the podium. We'll know soon, not until this weekend. There is good things to come with this car and I hope it will come soon. "
About the presence of six world champions on the grid
:" It's great for the fans and the media, it attracts more attention to the sport and it can only create a better show or better qualities of races, but you know they are in GP2 races phenomenal and there is not six world champions. The most important thing is that several cars can fight for victory. If Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren, Lotus and Mercedes can fight for the win then people will love this season and I hope it will be like that."
Then he thinks that Ferrari still shine this season in which he is:
"The team is very motivated and very ambitious for this championship, we want to be world champion, that's our goal and we should arrive in November with a few points higher than our competitors if we want to be champions. We are ready, united and we trust each, other. Engineers are confident, the mechanics do a fantastic job and I hope the drivers will be at the top. "

Scuderia Ferrari Racing News n. 4 (about the first race of the season in Melbourne)

Fernando Alonso blog : finally back to racing !

"I arrived in Melbourne last night. It's the longest journey of the year and the prime objective is to adapt as soon as possible to the time difference, as there are no less than ten hours difference between Oviedo and here! I always like coming to this city. The atmosphere is very special, and there is a sense of relaxation and of being laid back that you don't find so often elsewhere in the world. Australians seem to have found the recipe for the good life. Of course, they have problems like the rest of us and actually it's hard for us to judge based on a visit that only lasts ten days a year, but that's the impression I have. Now I can't wait for this first race weekend to get underway. This year, we have had even less time than usual to drive the car, given that pre- season testing was shortened even more: six days are definitely not enough to satiate my need to drive! I have said it many times in the past, ours is the only sport where training is banned. Imagine asking Nadal to try out a new racket for just six days or a football player to train just six times before the World Cup! It would be nice to do more testing, but not to the detriment of the races, because nothing beats competition. In fact, after so many kilometres of testing and retesting, finally there's a whiff of sport in the air. I miss the excitement of qualifying, the thrill of being on the start grid waiting for the lights to go out, the adrenalin rush of the charge to the first corner, in fact I miss everything that makes Formula 1 such an amazing sport. It is always difficult to draw conclusions from testing. Everyone works according to their own programme and you cannot make a true comparison. We definitely still need to improve a lot, working on our understanding of the F2012, adapting my driving style to a new car which, with the loss of aerodynamic downforce at the rear and the new Pirelli tyres, is a bit harder to drive. We know in which direction we need to go in terms of car development and that's an important step. Sure, we will have to grit our teeth for the first few races, but first of all, we have to see exactly where we are in terms of being competitive and then give our all to bring home as many points as possible in this early stage of the championship. I know the fans always expect to hear me say that we can obtain such and such a result, but the truth is that we cannot say with certainty where we are. We must wait until Saturday evening at six, after qualifying and a bit longer still, until after this first run of races outside Europe. We have to stay cool and calm and take one step at a time, starting with the race in Melbourne, where we will get an initial impression. Once we know where we stand, then we can set ourselves more precise targets. One thing's for sure, with the will to win that inhabits everyone at Ferrari and with the history we have behind us, we feel a responsibility to do well: for us, for our fans and for our partners and that goes for all of us. We must all pull together to reach this target."
